Ancient Jerusalem Revealed, Archaeological Discoveries 1998–2018

This book presents the results of archaeological research conducted in Jerusalem over the past twenty years. It continues and complements two previous volumes in this series: Jerusalem Revealed and Ancient Jerusalem Revealed, Expanded Edition 2000. Together, these three volumes summarize the results of more than five decades of archaeological activity conducted within the area of ancient Jerusalem, covering all historical periods from the time of its foundation in the Bronze Age to the Ottoman period—times of prosperity as well as decline. The major results of the numerous excavations presented in the current volume cover all parts of the ancient city: the City of David, the Ophel, the Temple Mount, the present-day Old City, and adjacent areas beyond the urban limits of ancient Jerusalem. The articles were written by archaeologists who conducted the excavations. The first article in the volume summarizes the main discoveries presented in subsequent articles and their important contributions to our knowledge of the history and topography of ancient Jerusalem. The numerous archaeological excavations currently underway in Jerusalem continue to provide exciting new discoveries and surprises, constantly adding to our knowledge of this important ancient city.
